Two On The Shore

The title is for Tischer and I being back on the shore of Lake Superior and stoked for adventure from our new home in Grand Marais, Minn. We are Two on The Shore.

You can find me at Lutsen Resort as their new Director of Activities & Recreation, a role that I am extremely excited about.

This winter is shaping up to be a busy one between some freelance writing opportunities, an adventure film to work on, and a stream skiing project I've undertaken with another buddy.

Also check out the kayak expedition I completed with a good friend in 2010 (www.superiordream.com).

Blizzard conditions

Here I sit, warming after a tromp through the whipping snow with Tischer.  Forecasts call for snow and gusting winds this entire week, beginning with a heavy dump over the next 30 hours.  This time tomorrow I could have up to 3+ feet of new snow on my doorstep.  With temps finally dropping and precip in the atmosphere, it appears that I can officially welcome winter to my neck of the woods.

Though the depth chart may play catch up to last seasons marks, I am excited for another stellar winter.  And as a man of all seasons, I also admit that I am looking forward to a slightly shorter wintry period. Last years was long.  Since it is already almost the middle of December, I suspect this season won't stretch on like the previous one.

You see, while I love the cold and deep, I also love it in moderation. And moderation to me is come May, these conditions start easing their grip. Because I like it all.  Last year I still had snow when I left the cabin in mid-June and while I had fun, I was more than ready to move along.

But for now, my skin is crawling with anticipation just watching it pile up out my window.  Bring it.
